A Few Tips About Ballistic Blankets

Ballistic blanket manufacturers always add an outer shell to the blankets to prevent the ballistic material on the inside from degrading due to exposure to the weather. An outer shell is especially necessary when the blanket is used outside. However, the outer shell is still very necessary whether ballistic blankets will be used outdoors. Due to using the wrong material, the Kevlar material can be damaged by water or UV rays if the blanket cover has gashes, rips, or micro-tears. Pay attention to the following tips when choosing a ballistic blanket.

  • Blanket Features: There is a fine line between life and death when designing a bulletproof blanket, similar to a life vest, in that the placement of straps, handles, and other elements can make or break the product in an emergency. A good ballistic blanket must be effective in conflict, defense, and emergency.
  • Components: It’s unsettling to spend money on a blanket without fully understanding what’s within and spend years worrying about whether it will protect you when you need it to.  Choose only blankets with verified, authentic materials.

  • Schools: A Kevlar blanket kept in each classroom might be used to shield the door in case of a lockdown. It’s possible that if things come to a head, teachers will grab extra ones and use them to make a mad dash through the corridors to rescue students who are in peril.
  • Embassies: When necessary, such as during violent protests, embassies worldwide utilize ballistic blankets to offer impromptu protection for the area in question. It can also be used as a weapon to smash car windows in an emergency.
  • Offices: A growing number of activists pose a threat to workplaces and the risk posed by unhappy [former] employees. Executives and other high-ranking staff at command centers may use flexible ballistic blankets as protection.
